A fresh approach to independent schooling

Portland Place School offers a fresh attitude to the education of boys and girls from a wide range of backgrounds and natural ability.  Our approach can be summed up as ‘modern traditionalism’.  Discipline is firm, but compassionate. Our uniform is simple and functional.

Teaching is structured. The relationship between teachers and pupils is courteously informal.  We teach in small classes to offer every child individual attention.  And, while we always strive for academic excellence, we never allow this to overshadow our dedication to nurturing natural intelligence or true potential.

Each child’s progress is followed through tests, homework and six reports a year. Parents are also encouraged to meet our staff to discuss any concerns at any time, as well as at a Parents' Evening every term.  We are also a school in touch with the the real world. The future of the children in our care comes first in all our decisions. And the education every child receives is a journey to a successful later life.

Our policies for Discipline and Exclusions, Special Eduational Needs, EAL, Curriculum, Anti-Bullying, Health and Safety and School Visits, Rewards and Sanctions (Code of Conduct), Complaints Procedure and Staff Names and Qualifications are all to be found on the website in the School Policies section.
